“Business and Technology” in Jeddah is among the top 400 universities globally according to the Times Impact Ranking

To achieve the two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of reducing inequalities

The University of Business and Technology in Jeddah recorded a new international achievement by joining the list of the top 400 universities around the world according to the Times International Impact Rankings – THE IMPACT Rankings – for the year 2022 AD.

This came due to its contribution to achieving the two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of reducing inequalities, in addition to adequate work and economic growth, the results of which were announced this evening, Thursday, at the Impact and Creativity Forum held in Stockholm, Sweden, by the Times International Organization.

The list included approximately 1,500 universities from 110 countries/regions around the world, which took the initiative to share their data documenting their contribution towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which include 17 goals, which are independently evaluated by carefully selected independent experts in the field of sustainable development. The evaluation process is according to a clear mechanism announced by the international classification body (Times Higher Education Impact Ranking).

This international achievement of the University of Business and Technology comes as an embodiment of the value of the responsibility that the university adopts towards society, as the university is committed to achieving specific standards for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of its strategic plan, which includes quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, reducing aspects of… Inequality, partnerships to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The university documented these efforts through the official announcement of its reports on a dedicated page on its website. These qualitative efforts resulted in the university being ranked among the top 400 universities in the world, due to its contribution to achieving the two goals of sustainable development of decent work and economic growth, and reducing inequalities.

The university adopts policies that reduce inequalities, as these policies have resulted in the empowerment of both genders, which is embodied in its empowerment of women, which is represented in several aspects, including the fact that the female component exceeds 40% of the university’s senior leadership. It constitutes 54% of the composition of the university’s labor committee (7 women out of 13 members), which is considered one of the first labor committees to be established in private universities in the Kingdom, thus confirming its support for both genders fairly.

The university supports a number of initiatives that contribute to creating a unique work environment to attract talent, which is reinforced by the results of the opinion poll on the general satisfaction level of university employees for the year 2021 AD, which indicates a high level of satisfaction and pride in joining the university from the majority of its employees. The university also contributes to providing fair opportunities for all beneficiaries of Its educational services, including the university’s provision of a suitable environment for people with special needs in terms of building equipment to suit their needs, in addition to providing supportive educational services for people with special needs through a specialized center (Education Support Center), which provides services to both genders by Specialists follow up the service recipients closely and in direct cooperation with their academic supervisors to provide appropriate solutions that support the student’s progress according to his or her educational needs.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdullah bin Sadiq Dahlan, and the President of the University, Professor Dr. Osama bin Ahmed Janadi, expressed their pride and pride in the continuous efforts made by the university’s employees to enhance integration and the positive impact on society, and the direct impact of these efforts on strengthening the university’s position locally and internationally.

Dr. Wiam bin Hosni Tounsi, Vice Dean for Development and Quality, and General Supervisor of the project, expressed his thanks and gratitude to all contributors to this achievement, which enhances the university’s international standing and achieves its vision of national leadership in its educational and research services, which contribute to community development and be known internationally. This achievement is a confirmation of what the university achieved during the year 2021 by obtaining a five-star rating from the international organization QS, in which the university obtained five stars in 6 criteria, including the criteria of comprehensiveness and social responsibility.
